A Word from the Editor~
Good Morning, Runner
Jennifer Zuri

Every once in awhile, something memorable happens on a training run and makes you glad you laced up your shoes that day to hit the road.

I live in Elburn and tend to run the surrounding country roads quite a bit.  I've had deer and coyotes cross my path.  I've had redwing blackbirds hover threateningly above my head when I near their nest.  I've even had an irate, overweight man behind the wheel of a conversion van try to subtly run me off the road while shaking his fist at me.  Sad, but true.

Runner's Bio~ Jon Burmeister

Jon Burmeister
How long have you been a runner and what motivates you to keep running?
I started running in the summer of 2005.  I'm not sure what motivates me.  I guess I just seem to enjoy running.

How many miles per week do you typically run?
I put in around 40 or so miles per week.  I run more when I get closer to a race, but I guess 40 is a good average.

CARA

The Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding, motivating, supporting and celebrating the running community of Chicagoland.  CARA connects runners to resources that enable them to run - further, faster, better, for life.

Due to CARA's advocacy efforts, runners in the Chicago area enjoy some of the highest quality road races in the country.  This race has partnered with CARA and, on behalf of its runners, has agreed to comply with and uphold CARA's road race standards.  The object of CARA's Race Standards is accuracy, safety and  comfort for runners.  To view those Standards and to learn more about CARA, visit www.cararuns.org.
